GX Checking In!

Fairways and Greens!

I finally found some time to start writing down some thought, ops, info, and reviews.  Obviously, it won't be all in this one post but, I will try to update as time allows.  I'll try to hit topics from the forums, info I get from people "Who Know Things", touch on forum social issues, and highlight some products from GolfWRX Sponsors and Non-Sponsors.WRX hoofer

GolfWRX is still in its infancy so, we still refer to it in months when it comes to age.  Its been kicking for about 18 months now and registered membership is around 20k.  Due in part to Richard (easyyy on the forums) above and beyond camera reporting work for the Buick and WGC tournaments, unique viewers spiked to over 50k for two months in a row!  Very good news for us and the community as it shows we are on the right path and getting some great recognition.

One question we have always had is if there’s a top?  We spent many hours planning GolfWRX and looked at the golfing population numbers and what it might take to draw a fanatical group of golfers.  How could we appeal to the largest cross section as possible?  How could GolfWRX foster a community that would be friendly, sharing, and a comprehensive knowledge base for Golf?  And the big question.  How could we make it financially feasible?

There are not any easy answers to these questions and it’s a constant balancing act.  We don't know if there is a top but, we are willing to go for a ride to find out.  Obviously, the biggest draw are pictures.  Pictures of the latest equipment from the Tour and then migrated to your local store.  We then assembled the best moderating team we could from all over the World.  Since the sun never sets on GolfWRX, 24/7/365 coverage is a necessity.  Plus, we all have real world realities that we each must face and so the breadth of the staff must reflect those needs.   The team is made up of Golf forum and Industry veterans that help us guide through sometimes troubled, tricky and uncharted waters.  This team has really helped to forge the backbone of GolfWRX.  They helped to draw the initial “Charter Members” which where the first 40-50 members that helped to get the ball rolling.  The extended family tree has grown quite a bit in a short time.

Richard and I are always looking for the best opportunities to help GolfWRX grow.  The most common question is:  “What’s in it for you guys?”  GolfWRX isn’t going to pay our bills or going to make us millionaires.  Of course we can dream but, the realities are not quite there yet.  In the meantime, we depend on out of pocket expenses and Sponsors who have really stepped up and helped to make ends meet.  Because of explosive growth, we will have to look at more revenue opportunities to meet new expenses and hope to find that right balance.  We’ve made a decision, for now, to keep the classified free and will debut a viewers support program, which will be rolled out soon.  This will hopefully help to offset some of the increased cost for bandwidth and resources needed to support the site.  Stay tuned for some cool info on that soon.

That’s it from me for now as an intro.  I’ve got some more post coming so check back and
