Week In Review- Week 43

On our way to May. One month closer to the U.S. Open

Here at Gourmet Golf, we've been thinking a lot about the golf swing and making it better. It turns out there are easy ways to do this from the comfort of your own home. Last week we did a feature on the free downloadable swing analysis software from V1 Golf Academy.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh.

Week In Review- Week 42

What a coincidence. Gourmet Golf's 42nd week coincides with the "Big 42" of Jackie Robinson. If you watched any Major League Baseball last week, you got a complete retrospective of Jackie's life. Here's a look back at week 42 at Gourmet Golf.

First up, your chance at a free putter. Anyone that shows up at a Callaway Demo Day in the next month, invokes the spirit of Phil Mickelson, and drains 10 putts in a row will receive a brand new Odyssey Marxman putter.

These days, when Justin Timberlake says he's going on tour he doesn't mean he's going to be twisting his hips on stage. He means he wants to play with the big boys on the PGA tour. This topic is getting a lot of talk on Golfwrx.com Check it out.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh.

Week In Review- Week 41

We're still recovering from that brutal Masters hangover. I've had a chance to piece together my memory and can give you a review of what happened last week.

Follow-up Masters coverage included words of wisdom from the field and a casting call for Zach Johnson's stunt double in his next made for TV movie.

Last week we were keeping it smooth as silk on the putting green with our review of the Odyssey XG#9. It looks the like the readers at Golfwrx.com were in agreement about the merits of the putter.

Week In Review- Week 40

Yesterday was Easter Sunday at The Masters, and newsroom metaphors were as abundant as Augusta's azaleas and golfers' puzzled looks.

Gourmet Golf congratulates Zach Johnson for his Master's victory and thanks him for the drama, entertainment, and inspiration.

I'm sure Zach is reminiscing about every detail of last week. Let's do the same.

We, at Gourmet Golf, lobbed a few posts into the blogosphere last week. We stuck with the Master's theme to keep you up to date on Phil's choice of menu and the Master's webcast /office entertainment schedule.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh.

Week In Review- Week 40

Week 40 has come and gone and we've made it over the hill. No mid-blog crisis for us. When we look back at the past we see nothing but good memories.

Speaking of the past, last week we introduced you to ZAGAT's new golf guide. Check it out if you need to freshen up your golf course rotation or just want to see how your favorite courses rank.

The best week of the year is here. Let The Masters begin.

That's all for now. Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh.

Oh yeah... has anyone seen Morgan's clubs?

We're back to our usual Monday morning update. Like Tiger, we've been busy battling the field and our own blue monsters. Sorry about the dead air and we're hoping this week's win provides the momentum for our best year yet.

We're back and ready for spring. You didn't think we'd miss The Masters did you? Smile

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh.

Week In Review- Week 39

Looking back at Week 39, I can't help but think about the oncoming "four-oh". Forty, over the hill, and everything gets easier from there. Time flies when you're having fun.

New GPS devices keep flooding the market. At least with SkyKap, you're less likely to loose your new gadget. How well it functions is yet to be decided.

Phil's preparing his strategy for Augusta and he's planning on bringing another double dose of titanium to the show. For those stuck in the snow, daydreaming about golf might be the only way to fend off the cabin fever.

Here we go again. Last week was quiet, except for some noise on eBay and some noise from Danny Ganz.

The new Phil is looking good

Week In Review- Week 37

Week in review? Nah.... This time, let's look forward.

Now that Peyton won his Super Bowl, you think he might make an appearance at the AT&T? What if he was paired with Tom Brady? That would be worth the price of admission. Anyone heading out to the Monterey Peninsula? It's been beautiful in the Bay Area. Congrats to the Colts. It must feel good.

Golfers in the Bay are gearing up for the San Francisco Championship. Can Will Johnson, Ryan Kuss, and Diane Kwon defend their titles? Not if I have anything to say about it. My tee time is 7am this Saturday and we're expecting record galleries. Wink

Week In Review- Week 36

It keeps getting warmer in California and the PGA tour continues to swing. What more could we want?

If you had a chance to attend the PGA Merchandise show or check out some of the pictures on Golfwrx.com, then you know there's plenty of desirable gear out there.

For now, all I can offer is a glimpse of the past week at Gourmet Golf.

In the spirit of CES and the PGA Show, we navigated you towards the GolfLogix GPS Golf yardage device. GPS is proven to be reliable, but you'll need to consider China's new anti-satellite technology.

This weekend was the initiation and validation of my Sun Mountain Mini bag. Poppy Hills' terrain and the elements threw everything they could at the bag and it still stayed light on its feet.

For a little creativity, we look to The Grouchy Golf Blog. Thinking outside the box, he demonstrated an alternative use for a Gatorade bottle, Sharpie , and golf ball.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh!

Week In Review- Week 35

As predicted, now that the West Coast Swing is in motion and has made its way to California the weather is finally starting to let up. You probably couldn't tell if you were watching the Hope on Golf Channel, but the temperatures are much warmer than before. If that isn't enough, PGA superstars continue to make their season debuts. Phil didn't make too much noise last week and Duval reminded us that "special exemptions" means he must make cuts. Get ready for Tiger in San Diego.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh!

Week In Review- Week 34

It's cold in California. I played at Harding Park last weekend and we had an hour frost delay. Hopefully the PGA tour can heat things up.

In case you missed it, we covered consumer electronics last week. One had everything to do with golf and the other had everything to do with apples.

Week In Review- Week 33

We're baaaaack.....and so is Vijay!

Welcome to 2007 and welcome back to Gourmet Golf. I hope you all had some quality fun over the holidays. If you're bummed out for having to go back to work or school, look no further than Gourmet Golf and a new golf season to get you through the day.

Since we were still on vacation last week, this isn't your typical 'Week In Review.' Maybe it's more like a preview for what's to come. My birthday was actually a week ago today and the birthday gifts, and Christmas gifts for that matter, were good to this golf blogger. So, in the coming posts I'll introduce you to some of my new gear and equipment. As always, we'll keep you well informed and ahead of the pack with the type of news and opinions that can only be found from citizen journalism. This year, resolve to get involved with your favorite golf blog.

Week In Review- Week 32

Please forgive me. I've been attached to a Wii for the last week and I can confirm that Wii Golf, Bowling, Tennis, Zelda, Madden 2007, and Tony Hawk are exceptional. As you can see, my hands have been busy, but I'll never forget to check in with our readers.

Last week provided relief and frustration with the results from Q School

Week In Review- Week 31

The news is slow and the weeks are flying by. Before you know it, we'll be in 2007. We're aiming to give the blog an injection of unique content before the new year.

We hope you're ready for the December rush. If you need some extra spending money, you might consider some poker-style golf to pad your expenses.

Week In Review- Week 30

The golf news has slowed to a trickle and the Holidays are coming at us at full speed. Gourmet Golfwrx hopes everyone had a great Thanksgiving and we wish you the best in the coming months.

If the weather is keeping you off of the course and even the range, the Nintendo Wii (blogged last week) should offer plenty of hours of entertainment. As for the rest of last week, we were busy with turkey dinners, movie theaters, and being thankful for our Gourmet Golf audience. Thanks for reading.

Week In Review- Week 29

Hello Everyone! Here's a look in the rear view mirror...

A golf club and some lights can make for a darn good show. Add some sound effects and we could be on to something.

Flavored golf tees have hit the market. Upcoming flavors? How about green tea?

Drinks on Lorena! Congrats!

Here's a review of last week at Gourmet Golf...

The big news of the week was the big man's choice to start movin some land. Tiger Woods Design is set to announce its first course design by the end of the year.

We have an international audience, but we're a US based blog. We just wanted to do our civic duty and remind ya'll (just got back from Dallas  :-) to vote. If you're interested, here's a link to election results.

It's November and the seasons are changing. There are some notable changes on the PGA tour too. If you haven't heard by now, David Toms is out of Cleveland and is shopping around.

Stay tuned (We're sure to have some great off-season coverage for ya'll. We're just back from dallas and we'll have great golf related content and pictures) and keep that bag fresh!

It was a quiet week at Gourmet Golf. We figured we'd leave it to Adam to make some noise. If you missed it, here's the permalink to the GD $$$ featurette that we covered last week.

What happened last week at Gourmet Golf? Check it out!

You may have noticed the prototype that KJ was swinging this weekend. Titleist has their version, and others, on the way.

If daylight savings time has got you a little blue and you're not ready to put the clubs away for the winter, then take a trip to Australia and play the world's first synthetic golf course (no ball-mark repair tool required).

For the gourmetest of Gourmet Golf readers, have a look at Golf Digest's new Index Magazine (if you can get your hands on it).

Week In Review- Week 25

Gourmet Golf is 25...only 25 more (sorta) until we qualify for the Champions Tour. Then we can be like Funk and stick it to the man/take home some glass.

For now, we're content being amongst the best golf blogs out there. You should be content too. Just by reading Gourmet Golf, you're staying ahead of the game.

In case you missed anything, here are the permalinks to last week's blog posts:

Now that Project Runway is over (shhh...I must admit that I watched the season finale, but not by choice) we can all focus our industrial design efforts on golf. The Golf Channel is developing its own brand of Project "Golf-Gadget-Thingy" and wants you to be a part of it. Check out the story and fill out the application if you think you got the goods.

If you haven't heard by now, Colin Montgomerie is a clever guy. He has employed his Scottish wit to his new golf tees. There is no word if his wit was paid for its services, but I'm assuming it's all bro bono work. Colin has generated substantial conversation at Golfwrx.com (reg. req.). Check it out.

In non-related news, citing "puppy love", Michelle Wie breaks up with her agent and jumps directly into the arms of another. (sigh) Kids...

If you don't like going to school in the United States (or wherever you live), then you might like China better. Compulsory curriculum at Chinese college includes golf. Sounds like my kind of place.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh!

Week In Review- Week 24

!VIVA MEXICO!

Thanks Lorena for making last week interesting. Here's a look at week 24 of Gourmet Golfwrx.

Monster drivers are going to hit the market. Be prepared. Don't be scared.

NIKE gets all metaphorical on us. Golf Balls = Juice = Gourmet = Organic. In an age of sustainable environments, it's not such a bad idea.

It's October (!) and it's practically the eve of the silly season. There's still some serious golf left to play and Gourmet Golfwrx is here to help you maintain your role as the most informed member of your foursome.

In case you missed something last week, here's a look back.

With so much happening in Men's golf, it's important to keep up with the LPGA Tour

The Gourmet Golfwrx partnership with Golfwrx.com helps to bring insight from deep inside the industry. Last week we brought you golf shafts and interviews with Chad Hall of True Temper Sports and Jody Baucom of AccuFLEX.

If you're as serious about bars as you are golf, then these stools are made for you.

Please, a moment of silence for Byron Nelson

Thanks.

Week In Review- Week 21

Gourmet Golfwrx congratulates the Europeans on a Ryder Cup well played. It's back to the drawing board for the Americans.

With the Ryder Cup creating plenty of buzz, it was another great week to be a blogger. Here's a look back at last week at Gourmet Golfwrx.

Our new contributor, Marcus Vindictus, lead off the festivities with a pregame analysis of the Ryder Cup. His foresight and hindsight is 20/20. He doesn't wear glasses.

GxGolfer gets us up to date on the chatter across the pond and gives us a look at cool gear on hand in Ireland.

If you're in London today, go Tiger hunting. If you're lucky, you might get your likeness portrayed in Tiger Woods '07 for all eternity.

Byron Morgan designs putters and chats with Golfwrx.com. Have a look at the interview.

Think you can bet with the big boys? Make like a pigeon and fly your way over to Vegas for some serious Wynn action.

Cheers to the E.U. and another great week at Gourmet Golfwrx.

Week In Review- Week 20

By the way, Ben you look great on Gourmet Golfwrx. Keep up the good work.

Can you believe it's been 20 weeks since we first met? I still remember our giddy beginnings and growing pains. Now, it looks like we're growing old together (...sigh...).

Thanks to the addition of GXGolfer, a new contributing writer @ Gourmet Golfwrx, we had a fertile week. Here's a look back at the past seven days:

We found out that Phil Mickelson's brother, Tim, is Augusta dreaming. More of a purist, he's going to try to get there as an amateur.

Sound the trumpets. GXgolfer makes his pressence felt with his introduction to the blogosphere.

Oh yeah! Somebody say something about a little event called the Ryder Cup? What's that? Get your match play strategy tuned up before the tourney starts.

UST is getting plenty of love on tour and is giving some of that love back to Golfwrx.

Public service announcement: Don't feed the trolls! They're fat enough already. Although, remember those bags of e.coli infested spinach? Feel free to feed that to the trolls.

Watch out for the new clubs from Callaway that are about to hit the market.

Not to be outdone, Titleist has some gear in the works too. Check out the top-secret spy plane photo. Mysterious and interesting.

If you like hard drives on and off the golf course, grab the new HD Tivo DVR. You can sit on your couch any time and watch hard drives on the PGA whenever and as many times as you want.

Remember TJ Valentine from Big Break IV? Thanks to GXgolfer we have an exclusive interview.

Don't forget to give back to the community. If you're looking for charity ideas or charity opportunity, have a look at what the Golfwrx membership is doing.

As much as Tom Lehman loves Bono, it looks like the Ryder Cup opening ceremonies will be without U2. If you're in the bay area, keep your eyes peeled for Bono sightings.

Astronauts and Cosmonauts like golf too. E21 golf is looking to address this underserved market.

And finally, from space came life. Or was it intelligent design? Maybe it was evolution. The debate ends with the Accuflex Creation and Evolution shafts

Pheww. That was the quick version of last week. It's Ryder Cup week and we have a lot more great content coming your way.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh!

Week In Review- Week 19

It was a quiet week in the land of Gourmet Golf. Have no fear, we have some serious content coming your way in the near future...I'm talking serious hardware profiles, piercing analysis, new talent, vicious humor..

Last week we did a quick feature of the Titleist 755 forged irons and the new video that Titleist has released on their site. If you missed it, have a look here.

Week In Review- Week 18

If you will, a moment of silence for our man, the "Crocodile Hunter

I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend.  I'm sure Tiger  had a good time winning his fifth straight tournament; his seventh win of the 14 tournaments that he has entered this year. Anyone think he'll win player of the year? He's scheduled to take some well deserved rest this week.

Last week we got caught up in some gossip. We were the first in the blogosphere to cover Sergio's love Down Under. In equally inane news, apparently Leonardo and the PGA tour share a fear of large cats on the golf course.

Back to the topic of golf...Titleist and their PGA representatives have some interesting things to say about their new hybrid golf club

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh.

Week In Review- Week 17

It's four for Tiger, not fore.

It's been a great summer for Gourmet Golfwrx and we're sad to see Labor Day on the horizon. As if we were a kid again, we've done some great golf-traveling and met some new golf friends along the way. These life-experiences, on and off the golf course, give Gourmet Golfwrx its depth and an old, familiar patina.

Last week we weighed-in on the PGA Championship and refilled your supply of cocktail party trivia tid-bits.

In the essence of America, we channeled The Doors to provide some lyrical inspiration for our Ryder Cuppers.

There is more cell phone fun for golfers, this time from Korea. GPS and MP3s will make practicing on the driving range enjoyable.

Greg Norman makes some noise and points a finger.

Week In Review- Week 16

It's been four months and a great summer here at Gourmet Golfwrx. I think we're starting to get the hang of this blogging thing. Do you guys have any comments, suggestions, or requests? Use the contact link or the comments section to get in touch with us and we'll do our best to accomodate you.

Leading up to last week's tournament, we heard that Phil and Amy were getting a little "arts and crafty." Phil's gift to previous PGA Champs was an album filled with newspaper articles. As blogging replaces traditional media, I wonder what will fill Mickelson's future albums. Gourmet Golfwrx printouts, perhaps?

A mid-tourney quote survey was all that we could muster for this year's PGA.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh!

Week in Review- Week 15

Gourmet Golfwrx appologizes for last week's minimal blogging. We were busy wandering the fairways of Scottsdale, Arizona. We were practicing for our future as a host of a hit television show. We're back and ready to cover the PGA Championship.

So, stay tuned and keep that bag fresh!

Week in Review- Week 14

Another day, another dollar. The Buick Open is closed, but Gourmet Golfwrx marches forward. Medinah or bust. Here's a recap of last week.

Before his trip to Michigan, Tiger made a top-secret mission through the fairways of Medinah. Top-notch security was on hand and Medinah officials were given last minute notice of the visit. Information was on a need to know basis. Tiger might as well be the next President of the United States of America. Getting reacquainted with the course, Tiger carded a casual 67. You can watch Tiger and the boys from your cubicle (if you're into that kinda thing) by checking out the webcast on PGA.com. The webcast will also bring you "Greenside Live," the "Player Cam," "Inside the Ropes," and the "PGA Learning Center."

Cool tech news comes from Nokia. The N93 GolfEdition is a phone and digital video camera and comes with the Pro Session Golf application. Now you can video tape your friend's horrendous swing, critique it with evidence, and then send it to all your friends. All of this is from the convenience of your cell phone.

Last March, Joe Kwok and I were at the Callaway Performance Center for some club testing. We had a great time on the range but we weren't able to check out the edifice of the Performance Center. We're happy to announce that the edifice has been repaired and reopened bearing the name of Ely Callaway. Callaway Golf has outdone itself again.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh!

Week In Review- Week 13

Some technical difficulties have kept us off the keyboard lately. Like Corey, we've hit a few bumps in the road but now we're back. Thanks for understanding. We'll make up for it. We promise.

We did manage to squeeze in some "Phil" time. Last week, we further corroborated our previous story about Phil and the St. Andrews Grand

That was quick.

Week In Review- Week 12

Gourmet Golfwrx congratulates Tiger Woods for his Open Championship victory. Aside from Tiger, I'm glad to see some life in the field. I have a feeling that we're bound for an exciting Ryder Cup this year.

We've been grooving some swing fixes at Gourmet Golfwrx in order to continually bring you quality content. We blogged the heck out of it last week. Here's a recap:

Since Royal Liverpool has been so reclusive since her facelift, we decided to start the dialogue and reintroduce her to her suitors. She gave us a quick "Hi" and a little bit of a wink. I think she might like us. Her suitors quipped back with some words of their own. After some time together, the pros had more great things to say. Her post-surgery debut appears to be a success and I'm sure her dance card will be filled for some time to come. Pot bunkers and all, we'd be delighted if we could score a slow dance with her.

In the spirit of updated-old-fashioned golf, we profiled Rocket Tour head covers and debuted some of their newest colors. Don't forget, the first reader to send in a picture of Bubba Watson and his Rocket Tour covers will receive a free head cover of their choice.

If you're like the R&A and into high tech gadgetry, you'll be interested to know how the images get to your television and how the Trackman feels about golf balls.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh!

Week In Review- Week11

After the recent Major Championship meltdowns, we spent last week gearing up and mentally preparing for The Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. Now in our eleventh week we can easily access our "blogging zone" and we're ready to blog on with a fury.

Not many people, not even Tiger, are familiar with Royal Liverpool. To get a better feel for what the best golfers in the world will face, have a look at the detailed depictions in the FilmLoop above.

Last week on the blog we focused on channeling the spirit of Mike Strantz, Monterey Peninsula CC, and gourmet golf. Surrounded by positive ions and hectic reality, we felt it necessary to realign ourselves with the organic, raw, and pure aspects on which this game was built; the essence of The Open Championship. As Jay Flemma puts it, push "away from over-marketing and price gouging, worthless, meaningless superlatives and self-aggrandizing billionaire developers." It didn't hurt that we've been donning a Trion:Z. Its minus ions and magnetic therapy have been flowing through our blood stream, bringing us into balance (thanks Trion:Z).

As you can tell, we're excited and ready for this week's tournament.

Stay tuned and keep that bag fresh.

Week In Review- Week 10

I'm not sure if any of you have noticed, but Gourmet Golfwrx is gaining traction in the blogosphere.  We've been keeping a low profile to get a sense of the
